Dr. Yuntao Wang

Dr. Yuntao Wang, is the deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics at the Second Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources in Hangzhou, China. He obtained his PhD from University of Georgia, majoring in physical oceanography. Previously, Dr. Wang served as a Sea Grant John Knauss Fellow at the NOAA Fishery Office of Science & Technology in the United States. Currently, he holds key positions such as a member of the UN Ocean Decade Strategic Communication Group, an Advisory member for UNESCO's Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) initiative, and is actively engaged with various scientific organizations. Dr. Wang's research delves into the ecological impacts associated with ocean dynamics and the assessment of the carbon cycle through satellite observations and numerical models. Dr. Wang has published over 80 scientific papers, with more than 40 papers as leading or corresponding author. He is the principal investigator for National Key Research and Development Program of China (Young Scientist Program), National Natural Science Foundation of China (General Program and Young Scientists Program). Dr. Wang also led the UN Ocean Decade endorsed project, entitled Mitigation of Natural Incidence Towards an Oceanic Resilience (MoNITOR), aimed at developing a forecasting system to promote sustainable development practices in oceanic environments.
