Dr. Feng ZHOU is the Director of the Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics Laboratory (SOED), Second Institute of Oceanography (SIO), MNR and an adjunct professor in physical oceanography in the joint program between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and SIOMNR. His research includes ocean dynamics, physical-biogeochemical interactions, ocean deoxygenation and observing system design, and he has published more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He was awarded a Chinese Overseas Scholarship to conduct collaborative research at the University of Maine from December 2013 to December 2014. He is actively involved in many international organizations as a committee member, such as IOC/WESTPAC (advisory group), PICES, TPOS, WOA III (coordinating author) and Ocean Decade (PI). He is also the executive deputy director for the National Key Laboratory of SOED and the founder of the marine field station, MORSE, which focuses on the Yangtze River Estuary
