Dr. Rute Pinto, MARE - Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, Portugal
Rute Pinto is working as a post-doc researcher at MARE (Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre), University of Coimbra. She is specialized in the (e)valuation of aquatic quality and biodiversity using ecological indicators and stated preference research methods. The focus is specifically on the provision of ecosystem services using multi-criteria analysis, where she integrates both ecological and socio-economic information. Rute has a PhD in Biology from the University of Coimbra. In her PhD she worked on sustainable management of the Mondego river basin and estuary, examining the role of ecosystem services. She has been working for over 7 years in national and international research projects, including ESAWADI (using the ecosystem services approach for WFD implementation), DESAFIO (sustainable water management and sanitation) and POLICYMIX (ecosystem services valuation and payments for ecosystem services) and is thus an experienced researcher.
